Maybe Kermit the Frog was wrong. 2013 is shaping up to be iTech Digital’s greenest year yet. We have always followed the old standards: turning off lights when you are not in the room, using reusable cups and bottles, setting computers to hibernate etc. But this year, by focusing on a few key areas, iTech Digital staff has found great ways to reduce environmental impact.
MSC Chassis Launch
This year we launched the MSC Chassis, an update to our standard LRM and SFP lineup. The MSC houses the most current components from Intel, Western Digital and other leading manufacturers. These components combine to reduce electrical power usage by more than 50% and decrease heat by 20-30%. It is also lighter, reducing fuel usage during transport.
Recycling Program
iTech Digital is working with Republic Waste Management to design a recycling program for our corporate office in Indianapolis. We also recycle the batteries from our battery backups (no you cant just throw those away).
Paperless Billing
We now offer paperless billing options, saving paper, envelopes, ink, and postage. Customers choosing to go paperless receive electronic invoices in a fast, efficient, and convenient way. Sign up today.
Employee Ride Share program
Originating in our Technical Support Department, iTech Digital employees now enjoy a ride share/ carpooling program, saving on gas and reducing traffic.
Truck Routing
A big push was made this year to improve the efficiency of scheduled onsite visits. We may never match the 10 million gallons of gas UPS saved with their no left turns policy, but we are making great progress.
Plants Throughout Our Offices
Even Kermit would appreciate a bit more greenery around the office. We know our employees do too. We prefer hearty plants that don’t need a lot of sunlight or constant watering. Many house plants help in cleaning the air, removing harmful chemicals like benzene. Our favorite, Sansevieria trifasciata (Snake plant or Mother in Law Tongue).
